does Tom Cruise still have his P51?

Yes Tom still has his Mustang,he also flew one of the Ju-52's in the film.
Just because he is a film star, and gets a lot of negative press, from basically a bunch of morans, who wouldn't know the difference between a 109 and a Spitfire?? .The man deserves better.
It really pisses me off,the way this young man is treated??
He is an excellent pilot ,and also deserves recognition for what he has achieved in preservation, and his commitment to the "warbird scene"
Regards Duggy.

The actor who portrayed Hitler did somewhat resemble accurately the hunched over, half-mad, broken Hitler of mid-1944, but the other supporting actors could've been chosen with a little more care. Best example is Ken Cranham who played Keitel. Cranham, if any of you remember, portrayed Pompey Magnus in the HBO TV series Rome. Short, overweight, portly, balding, wrinkled. What the hell??? Field-Marshal Keitel was tall, slim, martial.
On the way out the theater, I overheard a cute blonde complaining:" It was so boring, Tom didn't even take his clothes off..." and another asked her date:" Why did they keep saying Himmler? I thought it was pronounced Hitler", and I told myself:" I'm so alone".
Anyway, good film.

LOL! I can imagine that conversation.

wheels, "Australia" was mentioned in a previous post.

Better looking Nazi's? Nazi's were pure unadulterated evil. They should all be portrayed to look like Nosferatu in every film. Their eyes should be bottomless pits of fire. They should ooze slimy gunk. Women should faint at the sight of them and strong men should tremble. Even Gandalf should be afraid.

Eh? We weren't talking about the Castle Wolfenstein series?.................................................................. "never mind."

Good to know.

This thread was discussing Valkyrie with Tom Cruise.
Did you start the festivities a bit early today ??

Have a Happy New Year M8.

Wheels

Hey Wheels,

Someone else mentioned Australia first. I thought I would just post a review of it.

Me-109Jagdflieger,
I was being facetious, tongue in cheek. Although I haven't seen the movie yet, I tend to agree with you based on the trailers I've seen. One hopes that they were chosen for their acting ability more than a resemblance to the characters they portrayed. This seems to be borne out by the reviews
.
I have seen "Downfall" and have to agree that those actors certainly did "look the part". In fact the movie is kind of creepy in that by the end of it I got a strong sense of what it might have been like in the bunker those final days. Makes me glad that I wasn't there.

I know you were joking but i figured i would clarifty myself...lol... as for the actor's "acting" ablility...I will leave that for some one else to judge...not a lot of talking on the "leaders" part, I also felt the same way after watching downfall,
Cheers
Jon

Hey Wheels,

Hi Zeus-cat

Beebop informed me of this too.
I got too cute for my own good, having somehow read past and missed PeterPanPan's post.
Please look up a few posts or use the link I provided.

Made note of this there and what came up short of an apology.

Take care and hope no hard feelings.
Have a Happy New year still. Smile

Thanks for the review.
Nicole Kidman in a tight outfit is a GOOOOD thing.

Although I haven't yet seen the movie, I find it very difficult indeed to consider him appropriate for the role. I will see it with prejudice. As for Australia, yesterday it was rated by the press as the worst movie of 2008!

If you wanna know the whole story behind Operation Valkyrie, then I can only recommend you to read the book "The shirt of Nessus" by Constantine Fitz Gibbon.
