Our Philosophy

Mission4Today (M4T) was founded in 2006 aiming to provide a free to access website which supports all members of the IL-2 community at all levels of experience from novice to expert. Our aim is to provide a complete resource which includes forums downloads and a knowledge base

There are three types of visitor to M4T the rules covering each are in separate posts below.

Guests
Non registered visitors to the website who have access to the public sections of the forum but cannot post. This level has no access to downloads and are unable to upload or contribute to the site.
There a few rules covering guests.

Registered members.
Full access to the forums, able to post messages.
Full access to download sections, able to download files.

Contributors.
Same rights as Registered members.
Have files and/or other works uploaded to M4T.

Admins
The admin team are first point of contact for any breaches of T&C's, you can PM any admin via their name below.

As a guest you have restricted access to the forums, articles and knowledge base.
You cannot download files or post in the forums.
We recommend you register with us to receive the full benefits we offer.

Registered Members

General rules
This policy does not replace the original T&C's agreed to at time of Registration.

We encourage our experienced members to provide assistance for others and help to maintain the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that is enjoyed by many.

What you can do.
Be nice, really is simple as that. If anybody breaks this rule please contact an admin rather than engage in the forum.

What you can't do.
You cannot post anything that may offend another member, this may include any illegal activities, religious, racist, discriminatory posts, political posts or posts of a sexual nature.

Advertising
Any spam will be deleted and the posters IP banned and account suspended.
Members of other IL-2 websites in good standing with M4T are free to post links to off site material. Please check stickies in forums for any exceptions.

What to do if you have a problem.
We have an experienced admin team who are easily contacted should any issues arise.

Why register at M4T?
Registering gives you the opportunity to share your wisdom and experience with others in the forums, or gain wisdom and experience from other members by asking questions in the forums.

New Members
You have received a welcome PM which contains some useful links to help you navigate around the site. This latest version of this PM can always be viewed here

When you are new to the forum
Check the forum index, you will see which forums are suitable for your post.
Read the forum stickies and any other information at the top of the forum. We have been around a long time and many questions have been covered.

Why must I register to download files?
Smaller sites may offer unrestricted access to files but will suffer from lack of feedback from their user base and poor file security as a result.
Registering is a small price to pay for free access to over 9000 files, there are also benefits, you can rate and review files, send broken download reports, contact the author and request assistance with your download in the forum.
M4T benefits by being able to provide better security on our server and predict our bandwidth requirements for the future and provide accurate stats for the authors.

Why should I upload to M4T?
We have provided an uninterrupted service since 2006, a proven track record of stability made possible by the 'no drama' admin team that has been in place since the beginning.

Although we offer a file mirror option we recommend you upload directly to us as well, too often entire file collections have been lost forever just because a website owner loses interest or has a poor backup policy.

What can I upload to M4T?
We accept all files for IL-2 Sturmovik 1.0 to the current version, modded and un-modded.
We have an organized structure to help members upload/download files suitable for their game version. A full guide to using our upload system is here

Why not use Mediafire or similar file locker service?
While file management services are convenient there is a huge downside concerning reliability.
For example megaupload have been shutdown pending a piracy case resulting in many dead download links around the forums.
Filesonic and Oron have stopped sharing of files, others are likely to follow.
Free to use sites have limited lifetime on inactive files, the only effective way to use these sites is to subscribe and pay to upload your files. We provide a better, faster, easier, advert free service free of charge.

What control do I have over my files?
100% control, once uploaded and approved you can edit your download to alter text, screenshot or update the file at any time you require.

How can I protect my files from being altered without my permission?

We recommend a readme file is included with an upload stating terms of use.
To make this easier you could use Creative Commons, here are two examples you could use:

Allow modification and redistribution of your work non commercially and credit author.

Protecting your work is important, if you do not include a terms of use with your file you may risk your work being used or adapted by others, even commercially, without due credit or compensation.

Respecting copyright
If any part of your work has been derived from that of another person they should be properly credited and their terms and conditions of use respected. The majority of the IL-2 community are willing to share their work provided they are properly credited.
Credits should be filled in on the download page and their T&C's included in a readme file.

Resolution Of Disputes
Should a dispute arise over any material offered on this website that cannot be easily resolved all parties concerned will be invited to present their case in a private forum. The matter will then be decided upon by a panel chosen by the members in dispute or selected by M4T admin on their behalf. The decision of this panel will be final.
While the matter is in the hands of the resolutions group it is expected of members that no one shall post in M4T any article concerning the matter at hand.

How to handle problems in the forum

Reporting Offending Posts

This icon is displayed top right of a post, if you feel a post breaches our T&C's please do not engage in the thread click the icon to report it.
If you feel that reporting a post is not sufficient please use the PM system to contact a member of the admin team.

Ignoring posts by specific members

If you have real issues with a members posting style, and their posts remain within our T&C's you can click the ignore button that is near the top right of their post.

Contacting other members/admin

If you wish to talk directly to other members please use the pm system not the forum.
