Hello folks.
Does anyone know where I can find the download for Gimp 2.6.6? I just got this 2.8 after a reinstall of windows, and its being very difficult. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi F6
I still use Gimp 2.6 for my skins, but I must say that some of the new feutures in GIMP 2.8 looks really good for us skinners
I would say try and find Gimp 2.6 is you want, but I would personally say that try wityh Gimp 2.8 and persevere with it, as you may find it better that 2.6
But what sort of problems are you having with it?
Good luck, and sorry I wasn't much help

I've found this at oldApps, it may be usefull if you really want a downgrade. But as already said, it seems to be nothing wrong with the last version...

I haven't been able to get 2.8 to export .bmp's correctly. They're always 3MB, which Bright doesn't like. If I use the same settings on 2.6, it comes out 1MB. So I still use 2.6 for skins, while using 2.8 for photos and other graphics stuff.

I've never got Bright to work as a 'stand alone' program - and I don't have/use PS. Im still on 2,6.6 myself.
A .bmp in RGB mode is spot on 3MB... just index, sometimes I will use colour > 'posterise'-ing it to 256 colour before indexing.

See that's the thing. When I convert a skin from RGB to Indexed in 2.8, 1: it looks terrible, 2: it's still 2MB.
In 2.6, I don't have to change it to indexed before I run it through Bright. I just save it as a 24 bit bmp and it works.

What method do you. Psycobob, use to change a pic to 'IL-2' 24bit format?
