I'm not sure how I've missed this skinner's work for so long- but better late than never, as they say. I was nosing around FlightSimFiles for some P-47 skins and found a LOT of really great skins (the majority were razorbacks/ETO- but some bubbletops & PTO stuff as well) from 'Simplex' (also shows as 9thSimpleX on some of the skins themselves). There are also several Simplex skins that don't list anyone as the uploader- but if you click on the skin to have a look at the pic up close you can see the SimpleX logo- a lot of these are 56thFG. I don't have time to put any pics with this right now (off to work soon) but if you find the 56th FG olive drab razorback called "Hollywood High Hatter" you'll know exactly why I'm so excited about finding this artist's stuff- that's a prime example of these superb skins...had to share!

Does anyone know if 9thSimpleX is still around? I tried to send a PM at FlightSimFiles...

Hi matey,
My father flew with the 61st FS 56th FG and had his own personal insignia nose art. I posted on the Secret aircraft service forum and a couple of the guys have reproduced a few skins for me including Gabby's HV-A, Mike Gladych's HV-M (mark M style) and my fathers HV-Z mark M.
I suggest you go have a look, they are absolutely superb.
Example below, I hope the guy doesnt mind me passing on the info

thanks matey, unfortunately he is up in the clear skies for the last 17 years, sorely missed. But his legacy lives on, his life story being published next spring

Ahh rgr. Well ~S to him and his memory. My father just turned 80 in March and I feel fortunate that he is still around.

My grandfather, a WWII vet, passed away while I was overseas. That was very tough as he was my best friend. I think he knew though, when I saw him last before I shipped over he hugged me lol, he hadn't hugged me since I was a little boy. It didn't strike me as strange until I got the Red Cross call, then I realized that he had known. Funny story, he had been sent to a home right after I left, and had also quit chewing Copenhagen. Four days before he passed my sister had her son and took him to see Grandpa. He enjoyed it, then pulled my brother and law aside and asked Marty to get a can of chew and some Jim Beam for him lol. So he sneaks this can in for my Grandpa, who gets one last chew and a sip of good bourbon right before he passes lol.

That was pretty cool of them, as it made no point to be deprived at that time. Cool P-47 skins btw. Beebop made me a 1948 Ga. ANG skin Im using in my resurrected 1948 east/west japan project. 47s are a great subj, lots of area to paint.
