I am new to this sim and having trouble switching between 1946 and MM. The Alt Tab function makes my running 1946 shut down and resets my computer at a very low display setting. Same with UQ.
Any help appreciated.

Try switching to Desktop by pressing the Windows key instead.
IL-2 was never designed to handle Alt+Tab task switching even though it works on most computers. It's not designed to handle desktop switching either, but sometimes one method works better than the other. The 640x480 low resolution (probably 16 color too) is caused because that is the default resolution if conf.ini does not get written exiting IL-2.
