www.ww2.dk/misc/ob3644.pdf

In the above Defense of the Reich .pdf

Both III./JG 1 and II./JG 11 show their squadrons using BF109G-6/AS as of June 3, 1944.

When did these squadrons receive 109G-6/AS? To preface what little I know of this, the only documention that I have seen showing production trials for the DB605/AS in use with 109Gs' has January 22, 1944 as the date.

Would these groups have received the BF109G-6/AS by Feb. 20, 1944 in time for Operation Argument?

If you check the Bestandslisten on that site, you'll find out that the G6AS listed as being part of Höhenstaffel in the pdf are actually G6/U2 featuring a GM-1 high alt boost system.

In September 44 II./JG 11 first listed 6 G6/U2/AS as being part of their flying stock and III./JG 1 never received any AS engine powered machines.

Thanks Zorin. Excellent advice and very helpful.

When I redirected to main site of the Defense .pdf it looked familiar. Most possibly visited it at one time or the other.

Looking further into the numbers of servicables and types of aircraft for those group who were flying Reich defense at the start of 1944, "Big Week", and the massive allied air operations leading up to the Normandy invasion helps to correlate those events with what I have seen for AARs and pilot loss records as well as general knowledge of the events.

Cheers,
