By default, the "Print Screen" key will place a screen capture picture ("grab000x.tga") file in your game's root directory.

The 'print screen' key. But it will save screenshot in .tga format (as grab.tga, or something like that, in your main IL2 directory)

YAFSScreen is a nice little freeware screenshot application for Windows that lets you configure format and hot key.

Fraps is the most popular in-game movie application around, and it also handles screenshots -but it's payware.

Press Print Screen. It may also be called Print Screen/SysRq.
On a standard keyboard it is located above the Insert key.
That will save a .tga file in your main IL2 folder named grab00000.tga. Open that file in something like irfanview and convert it to a .jpeg file.

See below.

Only drawback to "print screen" method is that you only get one shot to the clipboard at a time, whereas with FRAPs, for example, you can fill your hard drive if you want to without leaving the sim.

Also, the free version of FRAPs does do multiple shots, but in bmp format (big files but nice for editing), the registered (payed for) version will allow for jpeg captures. With the free FRAPs version, I usually snap the screenies to a designated folder, then review the shots in Window's image viewer and select my favorites for potential screenies to another folder. Then I delete the "culls", and crop my fav's in Paintshop, saving in the format of choice. I also have the option in Paintshop to do "batch conversions" of the bmp's to other formats if I want to save space (jpeg).

FRAPs also allows for assigning whatever key you want, to trigger screen captures, to the folder of your choice. So if you've got a seperate partition from the one your system is on, you're not having to frag your system constantly by adding and deleting screenshot files. Of course there are other screen capture proggies available, as previosly mentioned, but FRAPs is obviously my favorite, simply because I like it's multi-function abilities and I've become accustomed to it Smile

The print screen method in il2 does multiple shots: it saves them as grab000.tga, grab0001.tga, grab002.tga etc, in the il2 folder. It not like you hit pring screen and have your shot in the clipboard, then you have to open Paint, click 'paste' and save as... Nothing like that. It's automagical, just like Fraps or Yafsscreen screenshots: you get a picture for each time you hit PrintScreen, only difference it's .tga

Fraps is payware. You can probably get it for free but that's illegal. If you want to do multiple screenshots directly in .jpg or .bmp format, without the need to conver them from .tga, YafsScreen will do that for free. Free and legal. (but it doesn't do movies)

Fraps is a free program with basic functions (only saves in bitmaps, limited film length etc) , if you want advance functions thats when you need to buy it.

For screenshots you can try this program. It's a free and a basic screen capture program.

I used to swear by "Fineview" but it makes an error on Vista and it has very limited functionality for me now
