What rank would normally a bomber leader in Schwarm formation have in the Luftwaffe?

Its usually the guy with the most experiance, regardless of his rank whether he's an Generaloberst, Oberleutnant, etc.

yes they call this member of the Squad the "Staffelkapitän"
the pilot Could be ranked any where from Feldwebel up to Oberst.

As a rule of thumb in the Luftwaffe, the pilot leading is the most qualified for the job and not the highest ranking.
