Reminds me of stock missions I've flown as a Finnish or German fighter pilot against MiG-3s over the frozen Gulf of Finland. In some of these battles, the MiGs were mostly white, with bright red outer wing panels. These MiGs were shockingly easy to track from above. I couldn't help thinking of it as a sort of "shoot-me" paint scheme.
