After a long day, only about two hours of which I spent at KIWI talking shop with other aviation enthusiasts, pilots, restorers, and WWII veterans. It was an outstanding experience. I didn't take my two children, the twin girls aged 13 months, since I figured the experience would be lost on them for the most part since the weather was too bad to have a flying display. There is always next year, since they stop at KIWI twice in a month traveling from Texas to Maine and back to Texas.

Instead, I brought along my wife's son, a 7 year old boy, who has some issues with attention keeping and moods and such. Figured that this is the kind of thing kids live for, at least I did when I was a kid. He loves aviation (thanks to me, lol) and is very, very, very, very focused on this subject, just like I was as a kid. So to be able to see the real life versions of the toys he plays with and the same planes he sees me fly in IL2, it was a no-brainer!!!! So, I will have the MANY pics I took while keeping an eye on him at the same time, and some of the details of the story as the pics flow.

As for cockpit shots, didn't get a chance to climb into the birds, but they were on display with no ropes, so I climbed and pawed around them as is fit, and managed to get some decent ground shots of the P-40 cockpit and a semi-decent shot of the Zero's pit.

Stand By to Stand By, gotta figure out this camera's software!

They had Honey Bunny and 23 Skidoo at Chino today. They flew both of them. Smile

LUCKY!!! The weather was typical Maine fall, ceiling of 500 ft, scattered light rain, and a 10 kt cross wind, not the best war bird weather. It struck me to see just how BIG some of these planes are. They had a B-25, F4U, P51D, P40E, and an A6M2 Zero. The F4U and A6M were in the same hanger, and the F4U really dwarfs the A6M. It was really amazing to me, blew my mind!!!

Got the pics onto the PC, just need to get them to M4T now. Was gonna use image shack, any better ideas out there???

Alright Folks!!! Here are the shots I took. My was far shakier then any respecting 28 yr old would admit, but between my head ache, nausea, pure EXCITEMENT at seeing some of these birds for the first time, and keeping the young one from banging their head on a prop blade or something like that, I think I did alright. I will try to add in some comments as I edit over the next day or so, but I wanted to get these up tonight for you all to see. All of the pit shots I took that aren't blurred to the point you can't see the major details are included, and the rest are the ones that made the cut after having a look through the 80 or so pics I took.

ENJOY! And comments are welcome!
