just got il2 1946, what next?

Actually, this is a great thread for any newcomer to read, lots of helpful info; I'm sure most folks will be glad you spent your first post giving it a bump.

you really need the sounds and mods megapack,
it lets you fly all of the planes, EXCEPT the he-11z

I'm a beginner with IL-2 1946, and so far I have managed (eventually) to install it. I have Stab 6.3, which I see has an installer, so that is ready to go, and I have downloaded patch 4.10.1, which I take to be cumulative so I don't need earlier ones. However, the only "runme" is the extractor, and having done this there's no "readme" included for later than 4.09. This says to run a 4.09.exe to install, but there is nothing similar for 4.10.1. What should i do, please?

Please start your own new thread if you have a question instead of burying that question on page 3 of a thread that is 4 years old.
You will get much faster and better replies, and more of them too.
Not every patch has a readme/guide or documentation.
Documentation is often released separate from patches to keep the size down.
Search the Downloads for "Guide" etc. and you will find 4.10 and 4.11 documentation. 4.10.1 and 4.11.1 are patch fixes and do not have documentation as such. What was fixed can sometimes be found on forums, but most of the time only the fix is released.
We do have a Knowledge base and a vast collection of Articles which we try to keep as current as possible.
