Royal Romanian AF IAR-80B Nr.199 Emil Frederic Droc, Stalingrad 194

IAR 80B 'White 199', of Capitan aviator (Flight Lieutenant) Emil Frideric Droc, CO of Escadrila 60 vânatoare, Grupul 8 vânatoare, Stalingrad area, September 1942

A test pilot at the IAR works, 39-year-old Droc volunteered for frontline service in 1942 and was appointed CO of the 60th FS at Stalingrad in September of that year. He flew 42 combat sorties during his four-month-long stint in the frontline, being credited with three confirmed aerial victories (two Yaks and a Mig-3), one probable (a Mig-3) and one ground victory (an unidentified single-engined aircraft) during that time. His four aerial victories were symbolized by the four 'Vs' painted on the fin of his personal mount. 'White 199' was destroyed at Tuzov airfield by a lone Soviet bomber on 19 September 1942.

* Note:
Nr.199 was an IAR-80B (with 4x7.92 mm; 2x13.2 mm) guns and reflector sight. - This goes in your IAR-81A folder or you may use the IAR pack available on sas1946 website SAS1946
