Would you like to hear your own native language when you are playing IL 2. Have you thought about creating a Language Pack for language that is not yet in the game, like Korean or Vietnamese. Here is the US English translation of all nine actors from th

Dialog Scripts for Creating IL 2 Compatible Voice Packs.

I took the stock game, version 4.07M, and in the {game folder}/samples/Speech/US/ folder path, I transcribed the dialogs for each of the nine actors utilized by the stock game. There were a total of 981 dialog samples. The downloadable file is in an Microsoft Excel format that I created using LibreOffice, one worksheet page for each actor. I've included the game expected file name (in a *.wav format), a subjective emotional intonation, and the dialog in America English based upon the "US" folder version for each dialog line.

As I was transcribing this information, I realized that for some of these dialog lines, the author of a language pack will need to use creative licensing depending upon which language/culture the "language pack" is being created. For Example, there are a half dozen or so swearing dialog pieces, which would be appropriate for a US pilot. The line, Jesus Christ!, appropriate for a US pilot, but would (?...) need to be altered for a Pakistani or Chinese pilot's dialog. There are also a couple of distance measure dialogs. Kilometers are used in 99% of the world, but in the US we still use miles. So the author needs to take care and keep things in character.

Also, I realized that there are 9 actors. If you were shooting a movie, you'd have nine different personalities. Some would be highly excitable and so many of their dialog responses would reflect their current emotional state and/or their personality. Others would have a good grip on their emotions and their responses would be controlled and stoic. Others might seem bored and still others would be somewhere in between.

This should help anyone thinking about create new language packs for the game we all love so much.
